Work of a rather tentative nature has been done on an ignition model. The purpose of this model is to explore the different types of 24 CLASSIFICATION OF HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS: PROJECT STRATEGY ignition which together determine the overall ignition probability. These include ignition within a zone, ignition in a non-hazardous area and selfignition. This model is speculative, but does draw attention to a number of key features. A discussion of the outcome of these quantitative approaches is given in Section 22.
