Chrastina & Schnitzer (2010) reported the synthesis of silver nanoparticles labeled with iodine-125 to track in vivo tissue targeting with SPECT images. Poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone)capped silver nanoparticles (average size 12 nm) were labeled by chemisorptions, whereby chloramine-T (N-chlorobenzenesulfonamide) was immobilized on a polystyrene backbone. The radio-solution was removed and added to a dispersion of unfunctionalized Ag nanoparticles. Unbound iodide-125 was removed by size exclusion chromatography on Sephadex G-25 columns.
