As an alternative, you can ride Girl Scout or West Leg back up or you can ride either of those two trails up and East Leg down. One of those combinations of trails—West Leg to East Leg—is included in this guide. The East Leg trailhead is just to the west of the upper parking lot, on the south side of the dirt road. It can be found to the side of the road at the point where the road just starts another climb. The trail is marked with a small wood sign. Once you enter the trail, it starts a gradual downhill that gets more and more steep as the trail progresses.

Immediately after the sign, the trail takes the first of two deep dips. As the trail progresses, there are many places where downhill trails cross the main trail. It’s easy to tell which trail is which, so there isn’t much reason to worry about getting on Ride 8 Middle and Upper Lake View Loop 35 the wrong trail. Once you’ve successfully navigated the two dips, the trail turns into a series of small hills and dips that are likely the best part of the ride. Not too far along, the trail comes to another dip.
