38 printed gift boxes pencil 2. Trace around a page of your scrapbook on light cardboard. Cut the traced shape out of the cardboard to use as a pattern for cutting out page covers. 3. Cut the paper to the size of the scrapbook page. Glue the paper over the page to create a new background color. 4. Be creative in the way you cut the paper. Try tracing the page shape on acetate with the pen to make a clear pattern to use for cutting paper at odd angles. The clear pattern will allow you to see exactly what part of the picture you will be cutting out.
Cover the outside of the notebook by wrapping a piece of felt or colored paper around the entire notebook and gluing it in place. Be sure to trim the felt or paper to fit with the notebook closed, not open, as additional fabric is needed to cover the spiral binder when the notebook is closed. Let the notebook dry in the closed position. 3. To use the trim from an old hat, carefully remove the flowers and the veil, too, if it has one, and glue all or part of the decorations to the cover of the covered scrapbook journal.
