Once those fluctuations have damped themselves out, as they seem to do, the enduring response of the inflation rate is modest and sluggish. It does not get out of hand.

The model is constrained to have a NAIRU of 6 percent. The diagram traces the path of the cumulated change in the rate of inflation if the model is perturbed in the following way.
